Raloxifene hydrochloride is a hydrochloride salt resulting from the reaction of equimolar amounts of raloxifene and hydrogen chloride. Raloxifene is a second generation selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that mediates anti-estrogenic effects on breast and uterine tissues, and estrogenic effects on bone, lipid metabolism, and blood coagulation. It decreases total and LDL cholesterol level and also increases bone mineral density.
